Question How Much HP can you daily drive?

Where is the limit between street car and former street car? How much HP can you drive to the wheels and still be ok when it rains, fill up at any local station and not have to worry about blowing a XXXX to bits with one good romp?

How much do you have and how much to you want?

Lemme know!

i think its hard to say. i mean 500whp on a stock motor and a built motor is completely different

for stock motor i would say like 450-500whp and still be a good reliable car. anything more is pushing it imo, not saying people dont do it, but I would never.

for a built motor im not sure what the limit would be. i mean theres people that daily drive 650+whp cars easily

i think it all comes down to the particular set-up your running and lots of other factors like how aggressive your tune is and all that crap

Hmmm well I can easily spin all 4 wheels in the rain with 400 whp but I would say 450 - 600 with a lot of tune ups would be a bad *** dd

I can tell you I have 375whp and 350 wtq on a stock 8 turbo with full bolt ons and cams. I like the way the car drives but want more power. I have a ETS 61mm going in this month my goal is 480-500whp on pump 93. I will be stroking the motor towards the end of the year and then will try to push for 580-600whp. I know of a few 500+whp stock block's daily driven and occassional track days. But then again I have read more post about guys grenading their motor for the same thing. It feels kinda like Russian reulett(spelling haha) Obviously its mostly in the tune!

I've seen a bunch of reliable evos running 400whp safe on E85.. After that you really have to start investing into the drivetrain and motor. Not that it won't be reliable at more HP with more mods, But 400whp seems to be that magical spot.

Well I have a buddy with 580whp on his DD so I voted for 600+. It all depends on the mods and tune. And how much gas money you have!

its also a completely built car and he gets all his parts for free....
not to mention you have no idea if that car has problems or not. of course its not gonna be admitted if it did. even if it did, it would be fixed for free.

all i know is the mellon tuning evo is daily driven at 633whp all day. but of course his motor head etc is built now i do know he used to drive 500 without built motor daily. I think kevin D also has a 500+ daily he drives bottom not built i would say it really depends on how aggressive the car sounds/idles and the TUNE for sure. Some people dont like all that loud sound and bumpy idle etc. so 500-600 might be too rough makes 400-450 the magical number. i am personally shooting for 500 dd and ill build the bottom end next year but thats just me.

The question is how much can you afford to have stuff fixed when its breaks?

Then shoot for a HP number, Just my thoughts

That's the point of his question... Where is the point of modding where it starts getting expensive to fix stuff (or where stuff breaks a lot)?

From my experience and thoughts these tuner cars can handle right around 350-450 just fine without being too loud or too much of a pain to drive. Personally 400 whp sounds great to me.

/\/\ Right on. Whats your sallory and you'll know what you can afford.

The question how much is too much alone has a simple answer... the skysthe limit.

You make 60k and have a family to support, living in an average cost of living area 350-400whp is pushing it.

Its all relative. Do what you can afford and consider the jump to 450whp+ opening the door for some expensive repairs.

GL with the modding you won't be disappointed with the evo no matter what you do!!
(aside from wrecking it lol)

Thumbs up

I figure there is a limit for sure. I was thinkin built motor somewhere in the 5xx range on pump gas. Then add meth or e85 or c16 for really wild crazy days. I know on a rwd 5xx is the upper limit beyond that you've got a very very dangerous car IMO (spins at high speed too easily). I like what I'm hearing. Money to a minimal concern, built right what's the most you'd feel comfortable driving without feeling like your gambling everytime you punch it?

up to 500 maybe alittle bit more without built bottom end will be fine after that you will be on borrowed time before you blow the motor. hows that
