front end accident what if??

just wondering.... a front fender bender in the evo must be a very expensice fix???? how strong is the front??? i mean if you slam into someones A** at lets say 20MPH the bumper hood fenders lights are destroyed... but than the intercooler, radiator, intercooler piping (probably turbo) air intake if you have a AGP tru cold air intake all get destroyed and all the piping pushes on the turbo and trottle body causing a lot of damage... anyone expierence this first hand??? wouldnt mind seeing some pics and some numbers....

I don't know about a front end collision, but I have run into a truck tire (no rim) at about 40 MPH on the freeway because I couldn't avoid it. My non-Aero front air dam (the black part at the bottom) was damaged, my bumper was very slightly cracked, and the vent over the intercooler was pushed into my FMIC, causing some more slight damage to it. The overall quote to replace everything runs to about $1800, not including a new FMIC. Repairing and replacing a few minor things would be about $1K. This is not a major accident, so structurally my car is fine.

I know that doesn't directly answer your question, but I just wanted to suggest the bumper was more durable than I expected.

Why do you ask? Are you a bad driver prone to running into things with the front of your car?

the turbo is on the back of the car so you're not likely to damage it.

a 20mph wreck is strong enough to set off the airbags...

if you want to know what last weeks bull run and that will give you a indication on hitting something with the evo head on. Not smart to hit if all avoid it if possible

lol nice responses... i just got out of a 2002 mustang gt... in the GT there was about a foot of distance between the radiator and the engine.. plus the bumper had a lot of cushiing before it even got to the radiator.. going into the evo everything is so thight that it just got me think that it would definetly be an expense hit... overall just thinking cuz i got nothing else to do today....

The intercooler and possibly the radiator will most likely be damaged. Dont worry about it just drive safe and you have nothing to worry about!
