exhaust question.

Hey all,

As you know I recently purchased my evo IX its completly stock right now but I want to add an exhaust. I am thinking about just adding on a catback for now. If I do would I need a tune. (I know a tune is the way to go regardless) but my question is if I dont get a tune will I be okay to run this? Sorry for the newbie question. Later on I would like to get an intake and tune but for now this is where im at.

thanks for you time :-) pics will be up soon, just needs to stop raining so I can clean her up and show her off.

you do not need a tune for just a cat back, you really dont want to get a tune till you have to, that way you spend less money in the long run so get the cat back (i would recommend a full exhaust) read the sticky moding for dummies it will help u out alot

no tune "needed" for an exhaust. even a stock evo can be tuned to run better but you will be safe. The next things i recomend are fuel pump, air filter, manual boost controller and then a tune. ur evo will pick up a good 50+whp just from that stuff. it will feel like a new car

Thank you for the fast responses, that's what I thought but I guess I needed some input this being my first evo and everyone here with such great advice. For now I am going to go with a 3inch catback then ill add a downpipe, intake mbc and boost gauge then of course a tune down the road :-)
