Evo 9 apperance questions.

I just bought an 06 Evo 9 SE with 18k miles on it and its all stock. It looks like the previous owner did a lot of highway miles. The front lip has a lot of chips in it and the headlights have a Yellowish hue to it and has a rough texture to it. Anyone know how to clean this stuff off and make it look good again? I tried Never Dull but that didn't seem to do the trick. Also I'm wondering if there was any good reason why the previous owner would put Evo 8 seats (the black with blue centers) in a Evo 9 SE. One last question. My roommate has a tarmac black Evo 9 SE and has the black inside the headlights and mine doesn't. Mine is Graphite Grey. They were both manufactured in July of 06. Thanks for your help. Oh yeah and I have a Fog Light button For my ACD button?!?!?!

Oh boy you may be right.

Not to be too critical, but if your friend has a Evo 9 SE as well; shouldn't you have known what to expect prior to purchasing this car?

Nonetheless good luck.

I also suggest looking at the engine bay closer to confirm the stock claim.

Well I know its an SE cause it has the aluminum front fenders and roof. Tested it with a magnet. And the guy who installed the backseats put one of the seatbelts behind the seat itself. I'm just wondering if anyone knew if the Tarmac Black SE came with certain features that the other colors didn't get. Like the Black insides of the headlights. And if they have a good fix for the headlights. Like a buffer of some sort. It almost looks like oxidation. The car runs great. Its for sure an EVO.

<---roomate i have an evo IX tarmac se Red stitch seats blacked out headlights. his evo was bought used and curious as to why someone would swap evo 9 se seats w/evo 8 seats and why his headlights have crome back vs the black back .. in other words we know the seats are swaped but were the SE blacked out headlights a tarmac only or were the headlights swaped as well. this was one of the only evo IX that we could find worth buying used.. others were apparently raced and ragged or owned by a bonehead that prefered a massive custom system. trying to dig up some history on the car... maybe its evoM member that traded in??

Mark B is my roommate. hes part of ntec. Method 06 is his evom name. Also got his car tuned by Kevin D. My steering wheel is black. Just like his. And i have the Bilsteins. Which is an SE/MR part. Also the long piece of fake carbon fiber across the dash has been replaced with a flat black piece which looks like the piece might have been removed and maybe replaced with a standard Lancer dash piece. Which i think makes sense cause the Lancer had its foglamp button there where our ACD button is. I heard that some EVO owners would replace that piece due to glare from the carbon fiber piece. Just wanted to get a second opinion.

Sounds like you need to talk to the original owner and sort out what the biscuit is up with your car.. SE's have aluminum hoods, roof and fenders.. They also all have the blacked out headlamps and tail-lamps and the black interior with red stitching, lower lip, BBS wheels, fake carbon trim, HIDs, and an ACD button, the fog lamp switch is to the left of the steering wheel, down pretty low.

I've got an Evo 9 SE. It comes with:

- Smoked head lights and tail lights, just like every other USDM Evo 9. They're not blacked out.

- Black seats with red stitching. This is the only interior difference. The ACD switch should be next to your side mirror adjustment switch. It sounds like your interior cake carbon fiber pieces were swapped with a 2003 or 2004 Evo 8, along with the seats. Is your ACD switch down where the headlamp adjustment switch is?

- Standard struts. Only the MR version got the Bilstein struts.

I'd say you've either had someone swap out a whole bunch of Evo 8 parts on to an Evo 9, or you bought an Evo 8 with an Evo 9 front bumper.

When I said blacked out I meant the part that the actual lighting units are suspended in is black, the covers are clear, not blacked out. The other tell tale sign is to look at the engine valve cover, if it says MIVEC it SHOULD be a IX. Also, get the VIN off of it and google how to decode it, it's not that difficult or get a carfax report. This should end all speculation!

Seat & Interior pieces incorrect, my first instinct is that it was previous stolen and stripped.
