newb from dallas

just joined yesterday, im currently driving a 98 prelude but im looking to get out of it and into an evo, probably an 8. ive been searching and browsing to take a gander at things and was curious on a few things that maybe someone can point me to a link or in the right direction.
1. any crankwalk issues with these like the eclipse had?
2. besides gtspec who else makes good control arms and suspension parts
3. when using the ams tubular manifold and a gt35r can i retain a/c(i live in texas)
4. the evo 8's that had crome tails- can i swap to the "carbon style" evo 9's?

that pretty much sums up my questions(for now) anything you guys would like to add would be great.

1. i have never heard or seen any evo with this problem. Its a evo lol
2. Cusco makes components and im sure Robispec does i know they are all up in the suspension game
3. I dont run ams products. There are a ton of nice stock frame turbos that produce massive power. Look into the fp red or BBK Full or Tomei Arms
4. Tails can be swapped the MAJORITY of evo 8 parts fit 9 and vise versa. Now the engine is different of course Mivec or non.

Ill be in dallas next week hanging with my boys so nice shout out for the area. Happy hunting

Hey man. You are in luck being in Dallas. We have a very active crew down here. Everybody is really friendly and we have good ties with dealers/tuners. Check out this link to get a feel for the community. It is our NTEC (North Texas Evo Club) forum.

In regards to your questions, you seem like you are asking some pretty extreme questions.
1) I haven't heard much regarding crankwalk.
2) I don't know anybody with aftermarked control arms. Coilovers are about all you need
3) There are tons of turbo kits avaiable that do not require a A/C delete. I would research the more basic bolt-ons before you consider going this route.
4) Swapping out the tails is the easiest but most expensive way to do it. You can do it yourself or have somebody paint them for you.

Crankwalk can happen, Im dealing with it right now, but I know what caused mine, so get a stock one and be smart with it(research your mods you plan on doing as well as be smart with clutch upgrades) and you shouldn't have to deal with it.

thanks guys, yeah itll be a few months in sure before i can sell this honda, and i have alot of parts to get rid of from it as well. h22a4 aebs sleeved motor, cam gears, greddy timing belt, fpr, etc etc. so needless to say once i can do all that ill have a nice down on an evo.
im glad there arent any crankwalk issues, i talked to my tuner(kenny tran jotech motorsports) and he suggested listening for noises in the diff. my plans with the evo are to start with exhaust(full 3") mr tails(the carbon fiber style i thought they were lol) coilovers(open to suggestions, tein would be my first choice but the spring rates they made for hondas turned me away for being too soft) then 272 cosworth cams, tune, then ill start saving for a new kit, probably the htrgt35r with a tubular manifold. i want to keep a/c and p/s as this will not be a drag car but a car i feel can be more well rounded in all areas.

Everybody is welcome to join. It is the best way to meet people and gagther information. Plus we can hook you up with Don Herring Jr. He almost always has used Evo's for sale.

About the coilovers, I have the MR Bilsteins with Swift springs so I can't help with suggestions. Most Evo people hate the Teins (because of the Honda rep)
