Starting My evo's engine.

I was wondering... when i start my engine, i dont have to step on clutch to start my engine. all i do is crack it up like it was an automatic car. Plus i drive an Evo 9. is it something new that has started or is my car messed up?

someone probably unpluged the safety switch that senses when the clutch pedal is pushed down... This was most likely done to avoid the launch control by the previous owner I amguessing you bought your car used ?

other reasons to disconnect the safety switch is for remote start alarms, and yet another reason is to not to put any pressure on the crank without oil being there... This was a common thing to do back in the day with the 2g dsm's that suffered from crankwalk.

it is a connector in plain sight underneath the dash you should probably be able to see something disconnected if you look around down there.
