Wheel Damage/Repair?

So I'm driving home about an hour ago on the highway from school, and its raining incredibly hard and i can barely see anything (I was goin pretty slow, prob about 45 in a 65) and i go over this unbelievably huge pothole (it just barely missed the cutoff to be called a ditch). So now my wheels on the left side have slight dents in both front and back wheels. They aren't huge, but they are there. Can these dents be fixed? Are the dents going to unbalance the wheels? Should I get the alignment checked? Im just looking for suggestions or protocols from anyone who has ever dealt with this situation before.

thanks,
-max

Call a repair shop/dealership/tire place that you believe to be fairly reputable, and ask who does wheels for them. You can get them welded and painted so that it is almost impossible to tell they were damaged. Guy I know at a body shop said they get them done for $150 or so, even if they are mangled, but dunno for sure since haven't done it.

Or, there may be a place local to you that does on-car repairs. They basically use a couple drums to straighten the wheel as it turns, I think. Haven't seen it done so not sure, but that is my understanding. Would probably still look like **** but should at least get them straight. Not sure how much it affects wheel strength.

If you are on stock wheels, you could try to see if someone on the local boards is buying new rims, and see if they will make you a deal on their old stockers.

Sorry nothing more specific then that, but it should be a start

I just had my bent wheel repaired back to true and a hairline crack welded up a week ago, so far wheel is holding air and no problems. Cost was $125 to repair and weld and $20 to mount and balance. Work was done by http://www.wheel-repairs.com/ in Socal but I'm sure there are shops like this in your area.
