only my 4th day of owning the '06 MR but I used to be a mechanic and I have to say, of the thousands of cars I have driven (including other Evos) this is the first car that I have absolutely fallen in love with. Not a single complaint!
Evo FTW!!!

keep in mind by a "weaker tranny" is about 450tq if you want more than that then get a 5sp but let me tell you fom ..ummm "Street smarts" hehe the six speed holds top end better as the five for low end.

haul *** and shift from 4th to 5th in a 5sp then do the same in an MR and youll see what im talking about.

Yeah, I will primarily do back road driving, and occasional road coarse/autox for a few laps at a time. Probably wont drag race at all. There isnt really anything for sale right now that I am interested in. **** is beat, owned by a kid, or just the color I dont like.

Do SE's come in white,GG, or blue? I dont want RR, TB cleaning issues, or Apex Silver cause everyone has apex silver.

No complaints here! I bought my '06 IX-MR in Nov. '05. It has 45K on it and no issues ever! I would suggest though, that you get used to getting thumbs up and hearing people say: "Oh, you have an 'MR? Cool! Nice wheels". Good luck with your 'MR' decision...Go for it!

I think its better to get GSR or SE and put the mod that MR has. Coilover, VG, Wheels, and MR sticker =p

The color choices for the SE are Silver, Gray and Black.

The only disadvantage is the MR Transmission. Being that it is a six speed there is an extra gear shoved in a casing that is the same size as the gsr casing with only 5 gears. This makes the transmission heat up a bit more as there is less fluid in there also. 4th gear isnt a very strong gear in this transmission either and its prone to breaking if you are slamming it constantly.

There are mixed thoughts that go around with the MR trannys.... some people hate it and have issues with it relatively quickly IE 4th gear breaking and getting stuck in 5th or 6th gear.

Me personally have the MR 6speed tranny... My car has all your basic bolt ons and a twin disc clutch... probably 400hp or so... I have drag raced and autox'd and i DD my car.

Never had a tranny problem and im pushing 45k miles on the car.

As a driver of an 06 mr, i would have to say the weakness of a transmission possibility with higher hp does not justify not buying it. It 's like saying, well the blah blah model comes with a better clutch, chose that model. UGhh, that can be changed if you need to. As far as aim concerned the transmission can be modified obviously. Now if you said a lancer oz rally vs a 5speed evo, then yes. You can mod all you want but its not the same car. The mr 6speed and 5speed are better anyways. The way I see it, the resale is great on the Mr, which will knock off the 5 speed swap fee if you need to. But you do get the shocks which is an immediate difference, gauges, and hid and the HId's are very huge deciding factor I think versus non HID since the difference is immediate. Pardon the rant, but the mr is a great car like the se. I have not swapped to 5 speed and dont plan to unless it dies at 500 wheel, but since I don't drag race all day It'll be okay and if not, no biggie, transmissions are 1k - 1500 used.
