Is it true?
Is it true?
I test drove another GSR today and it only has 26 miles. I was doing 4-6k shifts. Then after pulling in the lot, I tried to launch it, because the salesguy said so. Then after a hard launch and stopping the car, the engine bay started smoking!!!!
I popped the hood then the sales guy said that happens when a car is new because the factory sprays the engine with resin to protect it during shipping. He said that everything should be fine.
Now I just wanna know, is that true or bull? Does the factory really sprays it with resin?
Thanks!

Sounds like bull. Mine never smoked, and no automaker is going to release a car that sends a new owner into a panic because it's smoking as you drive it off the lot.
What you did do was fry the clutch on the launch, causing it to burn and produce smoke. The first few hundred miles are crucial for a clutch. Considering it had 26 miles on it, you probably managed to ensure the clutch won't seat properly, effectively ruining it (or at the very least reducing its lifespan considerably). You certainly don't want to buy that one, and I feel bad for the person who eventually does.

Wow.... Yeah... I actually did it on purpose. The salesguy always tells me to put more power on the engine.... "Put more foot on the gas!!! Rev it up more!!!" Probably it's his tactic so I'll feel how powerful the X is and fall in love with it. That's the reason why I was shifting 4-6K which I normally do 2-3K.
Then I launched it real hard and that's what happened. Oh well. Good thing he doesn't wanna negotiate with the price.

Its usually the turbo, this has happened on every new turbo car I have driven. Mazdaspeed3, the 09 cobalt, etc. Im not sure why it happens, havent really looked into it. Its supposed to be broken in properly, not driven hard.
LOL OMG, if I were the dealership manager and learned about that.. I would have fired that salesman right on the spot. What a dumba$$ for letting a potential customer launch a new car and have him see all that smoke as a result of it.
I feel sorry for the Evo, a brand-new thing of beauty doesn't deserve to be abused like that.

were you planning to buy it before the test drive or you were just there to have a free test drive?
why would you beat on it if you want to buy it? to test how fast it is? you can read evom and learn about the car instead of posting how you fried the clutch when to begin with this is not a FWD or RWD car and instead an AWD car and doing what you did, you just fried the clutch. it is not a car defect but an inconsiderate "test driver"
