balancing flywheel and pressure plate

have you guys had any luck with having the assembly balanced without a crankshaft to mate it to? is the hole machined in the center of the flywheel that size for a reason beside manufacturers ease of production (input shaft pilot)? my balancer wants to machine the hole larger in order to chuck the flywheel up, not sure if its a good idea or not. he could build a centering bushing after the fact to regain the original bore size if necessary. what's your experience?
thanks

oh, and i'll be giving the fidanza tech a call tomorrow of course!

it seems that the only right way to do it is with attachment to a crank. i'm looking for one now whether shot or good, bought or borrowed.

if anyone in the northwest cares to lend me one, i'd very grateful! does anyone have info on what other mitsubishi cranks share the same bolt pattern and center bore size?
