Newb Question...

Sorry, I'd like all your experienced expertise on this one. Please help in anyway you can!! Thanks!! Right now, I'm deciding on one of two IX MR.

First is an stock IX MR with only an aftermarket stereo, carbon fiber hood and carbon fiber trunk. 19.5k miles

Second IX MR comes with intake, exhaust and tune. 22.5k miles

Both are about the same price. I test drove both and I like the kick of the 2nd one (tuned), but I really want a stock car. I drove the 2nd IX MR (tuned) first and when I test drove the 1st (stock) one it felt like it wasn't pulling at all. Seems like the 1st (stock) one was really weak.

Can anybody offer any ideas as to why it felt that way? Does an intake, exhaust and tune really make that much of difference that I'll be able to feel such a difference?

Please ease my mind and help me in my final decision! I'd like to come to the darkside soon enough!!

How much horsepower do you think that would make over stock?

the stock ix would run around 260-270 whp , where the first mr u test drove should be around 310-330 whp depending on psi # too.

which car did u drive first? the stock or the moded one?
i would have test drove the stock one first to get a neutral feeling for it.

I test drove the modded one first. I guess that's why the stock seems so dragging. haha But would you think it'd be better to get the stock one and then modify it myself? Or get the basic modded one?

I would suggest buying the stock IX MR and modding it the way you want...If i was buying an evo I would buy a stock or as stock as possible that I could find...

I'm thinking the same too, but I'm very tempted by the strong pull of the modded one. Did you buy your stock? If so, after you've done similar modification to what I talked about above was there a huge difference in the way the car pulled, spool, and take off?

sounds like the stock car could have been not so stock before, he might have changed all his go fast parts back to stock, I could be rong but if he spent that kind of money for a new hood and trunk its very possible that car was heavily moded

True, but I'm not so sure about that neither. The car only has 19.5k miles on it. Do you think the car was heavily modded? That's the thing that I'm most scared of about the stock Evo IX MR. You've any ideas how I can check? Compression test?

If your gonna buy one, Buy a stock one it would be less of a headache for you in the long run, and you mod it however you want, and won't have to worry about if the previous owner tuned it or whatever. Its always better to start with a fresh platform to work with.

Mod wise Id go Turbo-back exhaust Intake and tune. If you wanted you can even get suspension. You can have the fastest car in the world but can you handle it is the question? On a side note a better handling car will outrun a more power modded car. believe it or not. Power may win in Drag race's but not in auto-x and such.
