wait a bit and save up for it. Don't settle for less.. haha I orginally wanted my rx8, and almost settled for a mazda3. Waited a little longer, kept saving, and never looked back. Just like i'm going to do with the evo X =)

I've never driven/ridden in a RX8 so I'm not qualified to compare performance, but I will say the stock Evo X will probably not pop your eyes out in terms of acceleration. However, as other's have stated, the Evo responds EXTREMELY well to basic modifications and a professional tune.

If you are new to modding/tuning, read up here on the forum for the possible risks to your powertrain warranty so you can make an educated decision.

The fact that rx8 gains near nothing in terms of power mods makes it a sharp contrast with the evo in terms of tuning. The car in general is an entirely different beast, the rx8 being more along the lines of miata like tuning.

gh8st - sell me that front lip, I'll have it shipped to cali

Dude just take your time and look dont settle for something like a ralliart because you will always be kicking yourself for just setteling for something. I know a couple dealers on Long Island have MR's laying around so maybe you can get a deal on a leftover man.

yeah.. the best gains you can get out of an N/A rx8 is from a cobb ap tune + highflow/midpipe.. and that's like a 20hp max. I love how the X is so responsive to simple mods. I'll start reading up on stuff once i actually get the car.

On a side note, i've read some basic stuff on the X and out of the box, it does 60 in like 4.5 secs? that's like ferrari fast. And apparently it handles like it's on rails, but i'm sure the handling won't impress me too much, since the rx8's handling is phenomenal. I'll go out for a test drive sometime this week

I dunno about that 4.5 second time... I think the IX did 0-60 in 4.9-5.0 flat and had better acceleration in stock trim than the X. (I've owned both). At best I'd guess a stock X could run 5.0-5.1. Maybe someone else can chime in on this?

I looked around on the interweb but saw way too many different 0-60 times and don't know which are reliable.

But as I'm sure others will point out, there are many variables to 0-60 times so just drive one and stomp on it and see how you like it.

Evo VIII is around 4.8-4.9, Evo IX is 4.5-4.6, Evo X is 4.8-4.9. This is all with hard launching BTW, not just getting it moving and flooring it. This is 5500 RPM 2-step clutch dump status. But yes it will take off that fast if you launch it right. If you don't launch it and just take off like a normal sports car, it'll do around 5.1-5.3.

BTW the car doesn't feel that fast because it's pig rich from the factory. After a tune it'll feel way faster.
