I did a search but after going through about 7 pages just thought I would post up. I am curious as to see if anyone has had an aftermarket sunroof put into there MR. I just bought an Evo IX MR and was thinking of putting one in. Never owned a car with out one.

Has anyone done it?
does it mess with the structure of the car
is it a problem cause of the aluminum roof
Anyone have a shop recomendation in the PA area
aprox cost.

Because of the aluminum roof, it's a no-no. I mean, it can be put in, but from what I understand it will cause the roof to flex and that's not good.

DON'T do it! You're going to add weight! That's the whole purpose of the aluminum roof=less weight! Come on, you don't need a sunroof in an Evo MR! Enjoy it as it is and MEANT to be! It's not supposed to be a 'luxury model', lol!

 

i know someone with an ssl (sunroof) roof who would trade you in a heartbeat.

 

yah figured i would get some heat for asking. I guess I am used to Euro cars. but was sold on teh Evo after doing a motor swap on an eclipse. I just feel in love with the motor. So I am spoiled from always having a sunroof, heated seats, and lots of other luxury goodies.. Thanks for the input.

 

After market sunroofs are always trash, and leak like crazy. Putting one in an Mr with an aluminum roof is like putting one in an M3 with the carbon fiber roof, DUMB! I personally like sunroofs, i'm a windows down guy anyway. The weight issue is pointless to me, i doubt the extra pounds are gonna keep me from passing slow cars on the road. LoL

 

I will trade you my roof for yours!

i heard the mr touring has a sunroof.kind of a strech but would it be possible to swap the mr roof onto a gsr.

 

this is 100% correct. the roof would flex way to much causing crack and you can imagine the rest. if your going to do it right pull the whole roof out and swap it with a evo with sunroof. To answer somebody else aftermarket sunroofs are not crap and they COULD LEAK BUT. we have a company that works for the dealer and does installs of sunroofs and he warranties them from leaking period. SO if it did he fixes it no questions asked i have a friend that did one on his 08 eclipse no issues ever. cost 1125 installed and warrantied.

 

you have no idea what ur talking about..how many sports cars that u can compare to the evo DONT have an option for sunroofs? theres plenty 8s and 9s with sunroofs. whos really gonna notice an extra 30 pounds that the roof and sunroof add if ur not turning your car into a track racecar monster

 

I'd slap the **** out of someone who did this. like people putting sunroofs in a classic mustang.

 

does anyone know where i could get the mr roof with the sunroof in it.ive been looking but cant find it
