if you can claim you are consistently beating an evo with an RSX keep it! It's clearly a vehicle you were made to drive. Not to mention you are gonna save a ton of money.

so what are maintenance items besides regular fluid changes?
Do parts break that often for everyone?

dude trade your rsx-s for an evo... rsx-s are good cars but if you want more power go for it!

you could still make good power on rsx, but just depends on you and what you want to spend.

i would like to have a rsx type s and a evo instead i have a 350z and evo. I might get a rsx later. i mean i have already bought parts for the rsx before i got the car then decided to get a eclipse at the time instead. All the parts i have for it are still brand new in the box sitting in my storage

3" preformace exhust system
angel eye headlight
euro tails
Carbon fiber hood
Full invader body kit
Rsx type s evo-like spoiler

There no way a rsx competes with a evo stock for stock. your friend just cant drive to much power for him. The evo is more money for sure when stuff breaks its breaks. but i tell you want there are serveral upgrades to be made not to mention on this forum alone so many great parts for sale for steal prices just have to look. so you can save a ton of money from just buying parts on this forum and ebay. Now the evo is a great car you treat it right it treats you right. You dog it out everyday on the wrong tires no built tranny reving high untuned etc you get what you deserve like any car.

I don't know if you recognize me from Clubrsx at all...but I like my Evo X a lot better than my RSX haha.

I don't think some of these guys are right. I haven't had any problems with my car. I've just been throwing in oil every 3k miles and everything has been just fine.

Could anyone tell me some pros and cons to EVO ownership?
Are there any reliability/longevity issues etc I should be aware of before making my final decision?

thanks!
you're beating the driver, not the car. EVO should be eating you a new *******.

that said, get the EVO. As for all this talk of maintenance, if you don't break the car, it won't break. I've currently got 133k miles on my 06 IX MR, and i autocross/road race/drive it HARD every day. to this day the car has been more reliable than my old 2000 Honda Accord.

the maintenance isn't bad at all. every 5k you change the oil. every 30k you change the fluids (tranny/diffs). every 60k you change the timing belt, spark plugs. there are other small things i've had to change along the way. i'm on my 3rd battery as of two days ago, i also changed the water pump at 120k miles just in case. If you know how to drive, you should be able to get at least 50k out of the clutches. I got 70k out of my stocker, 50k out of the ****ty Exedy stage 1, and now i'm on an ACT HDSS. i had plenty of races, launches, and general automotive tomfoolery on all of the clutches and they held up fine.

things don't break until you start modifying. it's just common sense. if you add 100+ hp to the car, of course it's going to break things because the stock components were never made to handle that much power. if you plan on modding heavily, then be prepared for maintenance costs. if you're planning to do simple bolt ons/tune, you should be fine. of course your maintenance costs will go up depending on how many track days you do because you might want to change your fluids more often with the added abuse.

good luck with the car. EVO's are great. i absolutely love mine. i've got two autocrosses coming up next weekend and i can't wait to get out there and beat up on the car and the competition.

As someone who sold their supercharged 03 type S for an evo, I say do it. I had so much money in my RSX, but the evo was just as fast right out of the box, handles better with the stock suspension, and has 4 doors. Yes wierd **** breaks on the evo from time to time, and its over all a much more mantinence intensive car, but its honestly a much more fun car. It is an actual sport sedan, not a psuedo luxury car trying to be quick. I may own another K series car down the road, but it likely wont be an RSX. They are nice cars, just not in the same league as far a I am concerned.

BTW, your friend must not know how to drive... at all. I was just keeping up with stockish/mild bolt on evos with a stage 2 Comptech SC and all the bolt ons.
