What makes it so heavy?

So I've been reading around the forums a bit an i noticed that the hood, the fenders and other stuff isn't really that heavy and that carbon fiber replacement parts are kinda not worth it unless you get top notch product.

so what is it that makes the evo heavy? what can you do to lighten it, considerably, a little bit, medium, etc etc.

The Evo Really isn't that heavy. A Fully Loaded Evo9 SE Weighs In at like 3,285 pounds. A Evo9RS is a bit less. But Idk... Add The Weight Of The 4wd Components. Its Not Like It Feels So Awesomely Heavy When your Driving It.... but I see your Driving a s2000. Take into consideration that weighs like 2,800lbs you're obviously GoinG to feel a diff.

Buschur did a good thread on weight reduction. Try searching for that. Basically its a sedan with AWD that makes it the weight it is. But at 3300 pounds like others have said its really not heavy at all.

Iron block, AWD, 4 door (lots of steel structure), heavy brakes, turbo charged (turbo, IC, piping) it all adds up.

An S2000 is no where near light for it's size. 2850'ish pounds for a tiny convertible because of all the stiffening they had to do to compensate for the open roof. If it was a hard top it would weigh a LOT less.

An Evo with the trunk crap empty and no gas weigh's close to 3100 pounds. Given today's car market where everything is obese and has bulged to 3500 pounds (3 series) I'd say an Evo is not very heavy given it's AWD.

Yea you're deffinitly right, the s2k is a fatty with the size it is. For a a little two door roadster it's pretty heavy.

And yea, now that you put it that way, the evo really isn't that heavy, ESPECIALLY since it's AWD. so I guess after some dieting it probably isn't that unrealistic to get an evo at 3000 pounds or so.
