Coming from a K20 motor to maybe a 4G63 motor!

Hello All!

My name is Kenneth. I've been reading about the 4g63 motor since the GST 95-97 body came out. I've been a fan of DSMs but never could afford one or find a good one. So I went from the Toyota Celica GTS (2zzge 6pd) to the K20a2 (2002 RSX-S) then got another DC5 (K20z1 NHBP Nighthawk Black Pearl) colored RSX. I loved the power of the K series for it to be N/A. My car was taken from me by a older lady. I got T-boned back in May of this year. I don't want another RSX anymore, so it's time for a change of scenary. I had a really good friend of mine who had a XIII WW (Wicked White) I believe, and fell in love with the 4g63 motor again, then I met fellow EVO owner works at one of our clients we do IT work for and he just made me want a EVO.

So I test drove a IX MR and LOVED the power now I'm debating if I want a IX or a XIIII. Prolly for budget reason I'll pick the XIII because I can't afford the IX but I'm having a hard time trying to find an EVO locally, and I'm afraid of the dealerships. My wife wants to get rid of her 09 Si for an EVO so I can have the EVO, but no one is willing to trade her brand new Si for it. This is my intro, so I decided to learn more about the car before buying it lol. I'm also on evoatlanta as well. I would like to come to the meets and talk to the EVO owners and learn about ya'lls experiences with your cars.

You gotta respect them for what they are though. I love the K series, I def respect the B series as well.

9 's make a little more power with same bolt on's in the begining, either way 4g63t FTW and you wont have to worry about sleaving blocks anymore.

Yeah true. I doubt I could find a 9 for under 20k. I'll have to run with a 8 for sure.

Sounds VERY familiar to my situation. I own an 06 Civic Si and I'm looking to get back in a DSM. I mean don't get me wrong I LOVE my Civic but I miss the raw power the DSM had. I use to own a 1991 VR-4 and most of my buddies had Talon's and Eclipse. I know the Evo's are night and day from the old DSM's but I still miss it. I haven't got a chance to drive one yet, but it's in the works.

Well I'm for sure wanting a 9. I will have to wait and be patient. I know i want either Blue, Grey or White. I've been thinking alot about this decision for my next hobby car. Me coming from N/A 210hp RSX to a 286 hp car. I want to keep it stock so I don't scare myself.

How long did it take for most of you guys to get use to the power of your 8 or 9's? Did some of you wait awhile before modding?
