i want an evo!
Hey guys, My name is Travis and I am looking for a nice evo. My buddy has one and it has honestly inspired me to get one. I was thinking of getting an STI because my auto body shop does dealer work for them. After thinking about it, id rather not buy a brand new car, even if id get 1-3k$ knocked off. Around here, evo's are VERY few and far between.
At any rate, I am only 20 years old and i am near the end of a major build with my 1992 Honda Prelude. Since money is now starting to stack up in my bank, I was thinking of taking a loan out for an evo. Id like some advice, perhaps some pointers?

Remember insurance might be hell if you're 20 and have a few points on your record.
I'm 23 with 3 speeding tickets and got quoted $240 a month.
Also, make sure you get it looked at by a mechanic before purchasing it.

Luckily i have nothing on my record! Yeah, I have a few mechanics around. I am looking specifically for an Evo 8 or 9. I slightly know the difference between them after looking at the FAQ section. How does the warranty work? If i get one of these, will i be able to get it fully serviced by Mitsubishi?

I've also seen that most Evos stay in one piece as long as you drive them right. You'll hear a lot of people whine about breakdowns, but lets not kid ourselves, we're not buying Kia Spectras here for fuel economy. We like to go fast. That'll take its' toll on whatever you buy.
My gut instinct is that you can't afford this car (based upon the questions that you are asking). I think it's safe to say that people with six-figure incomes are stretching their budgets when they buy an Evo and intend to fully mod it.
I'd suggest that you buy a new Ralliart and leave it stock if you want a warranty. They are damn nice cars for the money.
Only if it is stock, you are the first owner, and it is never modified. Somebody on here has a sig that is to the effect of Evos having a 36 minute/36 mile warranty. That ain't too far off. I bought a X and started modding it after a month. I have no delusions about my warranty, though.

Does a guy asking about dealer warranty fall into that category? I don't think so.
You have zero posts. Do you even own an Evo, much less one that is new enough to be under warranty?

I've got $6k in parts on the way and I haven't received the payment book on my car yet. I agree that if you are a mechanic and want to deal with used parts that you can get by cheaper.

I'm saying you can get and lightly mod an evo and not make 6 figures. That's all bud.
