New to the Site - have a question...

I just recently bought a 2006 Tarmac Black Evo MR from a local Nissan dealer that the original owner had traded in for the new Nissan 370Z. There has been a few mods done to it but I haven't gotten a chance to comletely look through everything internally, yet. So far, by what I can tell, the car has aftermarket wheels, HKS EVC 6, Greddy Type RS BOV, and Perrin Exhaust (appears to have been turbo) back but the dealer reinstalled the Cat before resale.

Two questions:

1.) I'm looking for a good semi-local (to VA) place to get the car tuned. Any suggestions?

2.) there is a line that appears to be going to the oil pan. It's relatively small and looks to be something like a oil return from the turbo to the oil pan. Has anyone seen this before? Like I said I haven't gotten a chance to look too deeply into the car yet but would like to know if any one knows what that line is called (specific part name), and if anyone knows of an aftermarket replacement that may be a little more durable. The line looks to be be slightly leaking oil because the rubber is starting to crack.

Thanks to anyone who can help,

Evo Newbie

aftermarket turbo? I'm pretty sure the oil return line is metal for the stocker. I should remember since I just installed one but I don't remember anything...hahah

Import Junky - It appears to still have the stock turbo.

Brsox - Yeah, pretty southern. There's a guy around here that has a white RS VIII that was done by AMS I'm not sure whether or not they have a shop anywhere close by. I don't mind driving a little ways. I just don't want to drive more than 2-3 hours if I can avoid it. My dad lives in Apex, N.C. so I don't mind going that way since I could just crash there if needed.

do you know what the EVC is set to? I'm assuming his car was tuned for a turboback if you're sure it was once installed. Now with the stock downpipe/cat you might need to check out your tune. Get a wideband to check your AFRs. Even if you don't plan on doing anything real soon it's always good to have it.

Just make sure it's not Atlantic MotorSports. You want to go to AutoMotorSports.

EVC

Set A - was set at 16psi
Set B - was set at 23.9psi

It was on Set A 99% percent of the time (what I was told by the Dealer who was told by the original owner) and was when I bought it. I thought this was a little strange because I thought the stock 06 MR setting was 19psi?
I definitely know it did have the turbo back exhaust and I was actually thinking about taking the Perrin and stock Cat (put on by dealer) and selling it; replace it with something a little better. I had heard of Perrin before but never heard/saw any reviews on it. Any suggestions on a new turbo back exhaust? My end goal is to have the able to hit about 400 hp but still be reliable enough to drive fairly regularly with a lower setting on the EVC. Appears to be easily within reach with this car.

well unfortunately it's rare that anyone ever hits 400whp with the stocker and boltons with 93octane unless is a high reading dyno. I'm not sure if this is your ultimate goal or not. You'll also have to run the stocker at 28-30psi which doesn't seem to fall into your equation.

I'm looking to hit 400whp as the end result, definitely not with the stocker and bolt-ons.

oh, ok. There are plenty of "Stock-Framed" turbo options that will get you 400hp easy with boltons. I'm running an FP Red at a very conservative 25psi and making the hp in my sig on a dynojet.

My biggest things is I definitely want to make sure that everything is able to handle the added stress of the upgraded turbo. I was thinking some internal work to help it handle some added stress without breaking a sweat.
Haven't heard of an FP Red before, how long have you had it on? and do they have a site?

you should be good up to about 500whp on the stock block... depending on its condition, but theres only one way to know that for sure. with the right upgrades you'll easily hit 400whp, no sweat!
have you done anything with the boost settings yet?
