i finally sold my 350Z and i am buying a evo finally i no ive been anoying but this time its coming down to it ive test drove found 2 i liked comes down to it.. now i need your OPS.

evo 8 mr has 7k miles and is 24k (GG)-2nd fav color
evo 9 mr has 9k miles and is 27.5k(favorite color RR)

WHICH DO I GET is the evo 9 3k better then the evo 8 i drove both and honestly thye feel the same the 9 a little faster top end and 8 actually felt more torqueee

cause the 9 IS faster up top...id go for either, but the 9 has a nice bumper and mivec head

flip a coin! lol... id go IX, but im biased! in the end you're gonna make the decision.

you cant lose tho! either way you end up with an EVO, an amazing car!!

^^^ agreed.. if your gonna do a lot of modding.. do the 8.. other then that go with the 9. i think i would take the 9 my self tho... but to each there own

 

Those two choices will have the same drivetrain.

 

yeah the drivetrain is no different in an viii or ix mr

 

stock for stock 9 is faster, same drivetrain basically since both 8-9 mr there were no tranny changes unlike the 5 speed model. The 9 has the revised turbo setup with a 10% larger compressor housing and the redesigned head which incorporates mivec, let me tell you, I drove a evo8 for the first time in a long time last week and it felt much slower than any stock 9 I drove. With the mivec equipped motors you get more top end and more low end torque.

 

If you start to mod the car the 9 is better. The 9 also has a stronger engine as well. You can tune more tq on a 9 then on a 8. TRanny on the 8-9 are both the same and the MR tranny sux.

 

i would buy the 9

Myself being an evo newb I'll ask how the 8 has more modding capabilities than the 9?

Sounds to me like mivec + larger housing + larger ECU storage sounds like a win for the IX.

Are 8's just easier to find parts for or actually better for modding? I'm curious
