Wow, from experience if you DD the car just leave it alone. Everything just sits so much better when stock, and don't touch whats not broken.

Funny thing is the clutch is still the same one I got from when i bought it used. I do mostly highway. But I figure while doing mods,I will change the clutch if it starts to slip.

Guys, I will do a compression test and let you guys know.

What? I see you have 5 posts...stop while you're behind. Idiot noobs...

A 4g63 doesn't suddenly turn on you at a certain mileage and "wont respond well to modifications due to high mileage". There's no "expiration date" on an evo.

Intelligent post...if it's your only car, don't mod it...enjoy it for a few hundred thousand.

4G63 is a strong engine, I am not surprised it will last long, it's those who don't maintain the car think it will last this long.
Post some pictures!

Hi, I have posted some pictures in the gallery section. I'll try to do one here.

Possible compression numbers tomorrow when I get some time at work.

Picture is before tint and eyelids

I installed a new oil pressure switch today. Oil light was on, sensor was corroded. Fixed now.

Installed a Greddy Full Titanium Cat back exhaust I got from a friend real cheap.

Anyway here are the compression numbers:

1-140
2-160
3-150
4-160

Let me know what you guys think.

Oh yeah, at 184,356 tonight

damn that things clean for that many miles! nice!

Whats the "accepted" deviation between cylinders in a compression test? isnt it a %?

Hey guys,I guess compression numbers are okay.

I bought a set of HKS 272's, but wondering if......

Someone told me to replace the valve seals, springs and retainers while I am there...

Opinions??

HKS 272's can use the stock springs and retainers. I would doubt you will have a problem with the stock valve train. Although make sure they check all of your rockers out to make sure they are not worn excessively and if you have a lot of noice at idle (ticking) from the lifters I would suggest replacing those.

if your evo runs strong now why stop there, mod away man. i agree with" Saleetones". If you blow the motor so what , thats why we have rebuilds for ( pistons + rods). When you do get your new setup you better daily drive it!
