Here It Is, Most Likely My New Evo

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

Unless you guys can persuade me otherwise. Clean CarFax report, 1 owner, relatively low miles (10,000 miles a year isn't too bad). I LOVE the color. Previously I was going to go Silver, but I had an old RSX that was blue and I'm bringing it back with an Blue Evo.

I checked it out, and it was pretty clean. Only thing I'm concerned about, is where I think the intake cover goes. You know at the bottom right of the engine bay how it has that big plastic block that covers what I believe is the air intake? Yeah, it's gone (not the intake, but the cover)... I know this probably means they put in an after market Intake, but will not having this piece do anything I don't want? How much is it to buy one? The piece that takes the air from the front of the hood and bends into that big plastic block is still there, but it just connects to nothing.

Besides that, the car looks stock and clean, and I'm going to take it to a mitsu dealership before getting it just to make sure there's no problems.

Your thoughts?

If the poster is misleading about the classifying of the car, who knows what else could be off...

Yeah, has MR rims and is not a 6-speed, but I would say get it to a Mitsu dealer to do a Pre-purchase inspection with compression and leak-down just to be on the safe side.

Good luck

I thought that was listed incorrectly, because I saw that it was only a 5-speed.

That's really the only difference between the VIII and MR right? 5 vs 6 gears?

Still though, even if it's just a VIII, is it a good deal you think?

Also, no one seemed to respond to my intake cover inquiry...?

So it appears as though someone had the car, I assume it was repo'd, sold at auction and the dealer that you are at looking bought the car from auction and are the current owner. Hint .. go into the car and look in the glove box and look for the auction sale receipt. This will indicate how much the car was bought for at auction. This will give you info on the sellers minimum range and you can know if your getting a good deal. For a 2005 evo8, with those miles, thats a fair price. If all runs well and things check out, could be a good deal. See if they left the auction receipt in the glove box .. i had a nearly identical situation as you, they left the receipt in there and i got it for 2k less that way.

edit: on the intake thing, there is an intake line which runs into the intake manifold (from where that box thing was). Does that now have an intake filter on it? What is it connected to? Usually if you remove that intake box, you replace with a filter intake. Engine bay pic?

Unfortunately no engine bay pic listed.

I'll definitely check in the glovebox

When I take it to the mitsu dealer, I'll have them tell me about the intake cover deal.

Thanks for the heads up guys, could have it this weekend.

The difference in the JDM VIII & the JDM VIII MR, the MR has the following additions. (I can't comment on the USDM though)

• 10.5T (single flap) housing
• Upgraded cams
• MR interior
• Bilstein shock absorbers
• Aluminium roof
• BBS alloys
• Black background to front and rear lights
• Available in gunmetal grey, not available in black, yellow or blue.

USDM MRs differ by featuring parts identical to all other Evo VIIIs of the same vintage, as shown in bold.

I would say try to get the price lowered. I just got my evo for 23k and it's an '06 Evo IX MR with 27k miles.
