Evo 9 Diverter Valve FTW!
I bought my VIII a couple of months ago with a couple bolt-ons( i.e. tbe, intake, boost gauge, boost controller). After reading about 200+ threads on here I decided to start with a couple more simple modifications. My goal was to eliminate insufficient parts and replace them with superior parts. Seeing as how the stock 8 dv's are prone to leaking I decided to start there.
So I recently picked up an Evo IX dv to replace the stock plastic fisher price one. Install was a breeze as it is just a simple stock for stock replacement.
Previously I was running around 20psi tapering to 18.5-19psi. After the install I decided to take it for a spin to see if there were any noticeable changes. Right away I noticed that the car was more responsive to boost, and after the first pull seeing the boost gauge spike to 24psi I knew it was a worthwhile swap. After some fine adjustment on the boost controller, the car spools faster and hits 20-21psi and tapers to 19-19.5.
I strongly suggest that if you own an VIII you purchase a IX dv. It works, it's cost effective, and no drivability issues!

This is soo true! My IX came with an VIII dv valve. I don't know why, but I'm guessing that's all the last owner had when he returned the car to stock. After replacing it, you get much a much more stable boost reading and the car feels better!
