how bad is the X to dd?

planning on picking up a 2010 X gsr, plan on doing the normal bolt on mods and a tune nothing to drastic. my question to those of you who own and drive these daily or quite often is this, are they really that bad to drive daily? is the highway driving horrible with only a five speed or is it liveable? i would by the mr but i don't want the sst. i like to take road trips every now and again and that usually means 3-9 hours on the interstate at around 75 mph give or take. i do plan on sound deadening the car through out, i have done this in previous vehicles and was pleased with the results. thanks in advance for your input. i loved this car in the test drives that i took btw, felt amazing

I drive a GSR as a daily driver. I wouldn't want to drive any other car.

The car is not that bad to DD, I know cause I DD mine. The highway could be nice to drive with 6th gear. It still isnt that bad, I drove my car from TX to IL and it was a smooth drive. I didnt have anything done to mine but rims & tires. If you dont plan on speeding all the time it is a very fun car to drive. I was getting close to 320 miles to the tank during my road trip. I am very happy with my car and am very satisfied.

The MR gearing is so short, at highway speeds you're doing almost the same RPMs as in the GSR anyway.

But to answer your question, it's not that bad to DD, although you will spend quite a bit on gas and tires.

i DD my car i love it, its not bad. As for the highway i drove it 12 hours to college and it did not bother me at all, 6th gear would of been nice but it didnt bother me that much.

Compared to what?

It's a bit buzzy in 5th gear at 75MPH. Gas mileage is **** poor. Compared to, say, my 2005 STi, it's louder due to higher RPM, worse gas mileage, and more "rattles". But, I like it more, thus I drive it more.

If gas gets more expensive, though, the diesel Beetle (in bright yellow, naturally) will see a lot more road time

I have had 2 VIII'S & 2 IX'S and I DD all of them and put up with it cause they were fun to drive, which I figured I would do the same with the X but it is nothing at all like the previous years! I absolutly love everything the X has to offer and the ride and features are amazing!! If you can spend a lil extra $$ and get the SSS package like mine, I think it was worth every penny!!

I agree with getting the SSS package. I DD mine as well and average 20-25K a year. Sure you will go through tires fast, but I switched to All Seasons as soon as I got the car which last longer then the Advans but obviously don't give you the same performance.

Get the X and get a tune. Not only is the extra power nice, but the car is smoother and the gas mileage is improved. I average 25mpg highway driving at 75mph. I just set the cruise control and go. Highway driving is not bad at all, but then again I am still on the stock exhaust system. When I do upgrade I will be going with the Buschur Quiet Cat-Back.

Piece o cake compared to the old Evos, only problem is bump in power and weight means worse gas mileage. The new STis are the same way... Managed an average of about 23-24 mpg on a trip to Vegas... I got 27 in the Evo on the same trip.

Not quite, It's about a 700rpm difference at 65.

Don't have a X but I do have an IX. I don't know why some people say they are bad DD. Maybe they are too big for the seats? I honestly don't know. I drive the car upwards of 2 hours on somedays and feel fine. Did a few hours on the highway before and nothing was too bad. Any car with an after market exhaust getting annoying as so long. Had a strait cat-delete on my old srt-4. Love it and then one day it just annoyed the **** out of me and I decided to never do that again. (car came like that though). Having a fast car is cool but making it louder DD is the last thing to my to-do list.

Yes, the '08's have them. Love my MR for DD in the city. During normal mode on my SST I'm hitting 6th gear by 45mph. Shifting is amazingly fast, I'm lazy and love the shifting, especially the commute to work during rush hour traffic.
