Hello,

I have a 03 Evo VIII and had a few ?'s

This is my engine bay at the moment

I guess I just had a few questions, I don't have the car with me at the moment as it's getting painted but am wondering:

The pipe that is coming goes over my intake, typically these pipes come standard with a cold air intake but I guess not? The previous owner has the HKS intake installed apparently but the pipes look stock. Is this what's referred to as the intercooler piping?

There's a local guy selling his INJEN Intake, should i buy it just to get the intercooler piping? He only wants like 175 for it (i'd keep the HKS end of course)

Also, that wire that just dangles, well bolted apparently, across the engine bay is really tacky and annoying. What do most of you guys do with it?

I've also been going crazy with maintenance questions so here we go....

I've got:

BG Synchro shift for the tranny

Super Diaqueen for the xfer case and the rear diff. Is it the same fluids?! Some people say it is and some say it isn't. Wtf..

0w-30 Castrol Syntec for the motor (haven't bought it yet but i've had great experience with it in my 350z and there seems to be good reviews of it on here as well)

I have NO IDEA what spark plugs would work well with the car. So many damn mixed reviews. All i'm going to do is bolt-ons, for the time being anyway.

That HKS filter does not do much filtering. I would upgrade the filter element to something better (K/N, Amsoil, Apexi, etc).

That wire is the throttle cable. You can move it to the back of the firewall. There is a how-to on that.

I would not use the BG in the trans. I had poor experiences with it. The fluid broke down and expanded (foamed) after not that many miles. I'd recommend OEM or Amsoil MTG for the trans.

Diaqueen LSD goes in TC and Diff.

I would use OEM heat range Iridium spark plugs. Some like copper, but they don't last very long.

How are you going to use INTAKE piping for your INTERCOOLER?

and the piping that goes over the intake is your upper intercooler piping, and NEVER comes with an intake...

the wire like he said was your throttle cable, be very carefull not to bend that wire to much...

^That's terrible. Well he's including all of the fluids in the pic for 50.00 as well as the filters. Guess i'll just have them laying around. Will have to go to dealership for oem fluids.

Ah! I think I understand now.. I can't see the image of your engine because of military blocks but I'm guessing he just has a HKS FILTER on it and not a full intake? So then yes, buy the Injen intake, and use the piping AND filter.

And now, an intake isn't intercooler piping, its an intake. Intake piping directs the air the intake sucks, intercooler piping directs air the intercooler sucks...Ironic eh?

Good Luck man...

Thanks dude, I understand now.

In regards to the intake I see. They're so short, lol. I'm just accustomed to NA cars and having the intake directly bolted on to the throttle body and a long *** tube makes it way to the front bumper.

That's a shame that the filter on the HKS is no good, i just order another filter element (ugh). Guess i should just replace the whole thing eh?

Get ride of the HKS end.

And you should get a proper tune for the intake. When you change the MAF to turbo inlet, that causes the MAF to read incorrectly.
