exhaust gasket question

I was wanting to know if anyone has used Red RTV silicone gasket maker instead of an actual flange gasket. It would be where the cat mates to the mid pipe. Bad idea? I don't need it to hold up for eternity, maybe 12 months or less. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know. I'm impatient for one and two I only have a small window of time to put the exhaust on my car and nobody around here has the gasket I need. I work two jobs, plus wife and kids, so after tomorrow Lord only knows when I'll have the time.

I wouldn't expect an instant gasket to be able to hold up as an exhaust gasket.

Go to autozone or pep boys and get a sheet of gasket material and make your own. Someone else just had a gasket thread up and they didn't want to wait to order one. At a local mechanic shop or auto parts store they will have a 2'x2' sheet, it cost me like 10 dollars for the whole thing, it has lasted me a year and an exhaust swap. No leaks, works perfect, cheap as hell and don't have to wait...

Word up, I'll go by the Advance and get one. I've made one out of a beer can before but that was for a civic so it matched the rest of the car. Thanks everybody.
