Is the factory gauge kit worth it?

Hey guys,

I see a lot of cars have a factory 3 gauge kit in their cars, I think it was some kind of option for the IX.

Anyway, is it worth it for me to put it into my VIII or should I just go the aftermarket route for gauges?

I would go aftermarket because the gauges aren't all that useful. Boost only
measures to ~22 psi and the only other useful gauge is oil temp. Look at some
of the shops for an in-dash, 3 gauge mount and buy some useful gauges (AFR, boost, something else.)

The MR's came with it stock. Are you sure you are not confusing those for an option?

The gauges were stock on the MR and the RS, and optional on all other models. I opted for the gauges with my SE.

Do you guys know if there is some kind of aftermarket kit that I can get that will fit in that same spot with 3 gauges? I don't really like column pods or mounting over the steering wheel.

There may be others, but Gruppe-s has a nice looking piece that fits where the factory gauges would go.

How about this, I made my own a while back and made a spare piece if you're interested let me know I'm willing to get rid of it.
