What Clutch to buy?

My stock clutch as gone out of my 2003 Evo vii and I'm looking to replace it with a strong clutch so I can begin doing some tuning. I'm completely new at this and I'm trying to learn. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of clutch I should get? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The clutch I got is a Carbinetics Twin Disc, its awsome petal pressure is a little stiffer than stock.
Its fully slippable so you can drive it daily.

One big thing you'll need to do is upgrade your tranny and transfer case.
I went with TRE and John took very good care of me and has excellent customer service.
I've been in an evo that had a Shep tranny and it shifts way too hard, mine is nice and smooth with no problems.

But anyways if your going to want to put more power down your definitly need to beef up your drive train.

What are your current power levels and long term goals? Stock motor? Tranny? T-case? Need some more information to give a good suggestion.

I'm completely stock right now. So I figured since the clutch slipped might as well replace it with one that'll be able to handle 400-500 hsp or. I know that with slight sweaking of the turbo and maps it'll produce 300. Then I'm looking to replace the Intercooler. But from there I have know idea where to go.

Search around, clutch choices have been covered countless times.

My advice: Competition Stage 2, 3, or 4 depending which one you think will best fit your needs/plans.

Kracka: Thanks for your post. I'm going to go ahead and go with a stage 4. Just because of the amount of torque she can take. That way if I decide to make her serious I'll have the option.

Seems like you already figured out which clutch to get. FYI, the break in time/miles are for local stop and go traffic, not 300 miles of highway.

Rav Spec: Thanks for the info. I purchased a Stage 4 Competition Clutch. Competition being the brand name.

I just got my Competition Clutch Stage 4 installed this week. Seems great so far. I hope I get many miles out of it.

LoL you guys.
If you get 10k Out of a stage 4 clutch, then power to you.
Thats where it ends though.

For 300HP you should have gotten an exedy stage 1.
Last for like 20+K if driven well, and can handle launches and some more power.

Only 10k miles?! I spoke with a rep at Competition Clutch and the clutch should last a reasonable amount of time. I'm guessing 30-40k miles. I don't know about you, but I don't launch at every light.

I have to agree with EM1toEVO I don't launch at every light. I try to drive her really reasonably until I learn how to fix her myself. Don't want to **** something up that'll cost me a crap ton of money to fix.
