Stock clutch isn't much good over 300hp, it will be toast soon. Burnt the crap outa mine with a few minor mods, I'm surprised yours isnt slipping @ that kind of power.

It won't slip like the stock one eventually will, or already is with that power.

so basically you dont lose power versus a stronger one unless it is slipping?

i dont think youll actually gain any power, however if your clutch is going out, with a new it will feel like it.
so, with a good clutch all of your power will actually be at the wheels.
... so you wont lose power (if thats a concern)

slipping clutch = bad clutch
bad clutch = loss of power (power transfer)

good clutch = power enabler

^ exactly. Clutch isn't a power mod. It is however a tool that is needed to get the power to the ground

I actually read an artical online from one of those street car mags (import tuner?..) they replaced the stock clutch in an 05 evo with a comp twin disc and made more power... I can't remember if they said the stock one was slipping or not.. but I know it made more power..

so by that youre saying that because you read something in a magazine, although youre not quite sure what it said, that a upgraded clutch is going add hp to a car?

I'm doing a meth setup in a few weeks, like I said my car is a street evo sundays only, I don't beat on my evo only occasional wot in high gears without shifting, maybe that's the reason it lasted so long???
Is a twin really necessary for my evo after reading what I said?

For a street only car I'd say stay away from a twin/triple setup. They don't like slipping and unless you liek to rebuilt the clutch every 20-30k, I'd stick with a single plate that doesn't mind slipping from a stop.

That's pretty much the opposite of everything that I've read...people spend the big bucks on twin plates because they are easier to slip and drive on the street. A 4 or 6 puck can grab hard enough to make it quite unfriendly for street driving. No clutch lasts very long when you start running big power, doesn't matter what kind of clutch it is.

I'm also surprised that the OP is holding power although I have to assume it is Dynojet numbers. I had my stocker slip once on less power although it was very cold that morning...

act performance street disc with streetlite flywheel. makin enough power to run a 12.8@108, slow, i know, but car is used for autoX/rallyX, 25k miles, over 300 hard launches this summer, car is driven hard daily, still holding strong. might be an option for you to look into once yours dies.

http://www.importtuner.com/tech/powe...ion/index.html

it doesn't add power, but I think accelerating faster is a good thing.. it has something more to do with a lightened flywheel.
