Need evo owners opinion, what should I do?
Yea i'm gonna meet her this weekend and test drive it. My friend said she has autoxd the car all last year so it has been driven hard. It's a heck of a deal but I figure I can continue my hunt if it doesn't work out and save money along the way. Any ideas on buying an evo from another state, is it just a roll of the dice traveling there to see the car?
autox isnt that hard on the car. its mostly 2nd gear the whole time. just wears the tires, brakes, suspension. i wouldnt worry about that part. if its the car, color, miles, ect.... get it. but offer lower than 19k... good luck
check the compression for starters, and drive some other evo's (preferably a few that you know are in good shape, that way you can contrast.).
PS - I sold my mint 03 VIII with 33K miles to carmax in march of 2007 for 20k. I bought the car as second owner with 6k on it for 23K. Get the newest car with the least miles possible. There are IX 2006 evo's with low miles going for near that price.
I got a sweet IX TB SE with goodies and 17k miles for sale @ 28K

Hello everyone,
So I've been on the evo search for a while now and I've come across some ok evo's until today. I found an evo locally and I'm really interested. It's an 03 Evo VIII with 12k miles and its being sold for 19k. The owner is a 2nd owner of the car and she said she just put in a new clutch. A part of me wants to jump at the offer because it seems like a screaming good deal, but a part of me wants to pass on it because the car has been autox'd before. I'm worried that if she burnt out the clutch in just 12k miles what else is about to break on it. All opinions are welcome, my stepdad is telling me to look at it with caution, I just don't want to get myself into something I regret because I didnt take my time.
Thanks again
Eli

Yea I actually am gonna pass on that evo. I did find a really nice red evo in Houston. I'm going tomorrow to talk w the bank about pricing. Then I'll just fly out there, buy it and drive it home
