Help a noob with an EVO 1

Hey all, I have just brought an EVO 1 and love it.

I am new to the EVO's and would love some advice on mods.

I know the theory behind it like more air, big exhaust, adjustable boost etc

What I want to know is if there are any DIY mods like I made an adjustable boost controller that I tapped into the waste gate line to make it bleed to atmosphere so I can boost to 1 bar/15psi

I have not done a search yet as I'm not sure what to search for

I have read things like the blue wire mod?...I think it's putting a resistor into your air flow meter to fool the ECU

I am on a real tight budget at the moment

Thank's in advance

Nice buy, the 1st things you should do to your EVO should be the basics of course... Air intake (cone filter) of some sort, a catback exhaust, downpipe, or if you don't forsee that anytime in the near future, then just punch out the catalytic converter and that'll help a bit. Of course, at that point a manual boost controller of some sort is a plus etc etc

I have been told that installing a air filter pod with out a cold air box hurts your perfomance ie:sucking in warm air

But it is going through a FMIC and water jet, so it cant hurt that much

Any one done any tests?

Ie, air temp in vs temp after intercooler?

you'll be fine, just remove the restrictive box.

and how right you are

I was boosting at .9 bar (13 psi) with the stock air filter and box

I fitted a pod air filter and no box, and now I boost 15 pounds

I love the new sound and cause the BOV dumps internally into the intake I get a nice sound for that as well
