Different types of exhausts

Hi, like I posted in one of my other threads I am still new to the car scene (but I'm learning a lot!) And one question I have is what is the difference between the types of exhausts? Like....cat back, turbo back, etc. I see people talk about them but I don't know what the difference is! Thanks!

One piece of advice, try doing a search. You should be able to find the information you want that way. By searching it will help keep you from getting flamed too . Good luck and happy driving!!!

I think it is sad that people always use the "use the search" crutch. The time you took to write that, you could have explained it. At the very least, tell him the answer , THEN bust his ***** for not searching.

Anyway, a cat back exhaust is an exhaust that connects to the back of the catalytic converter and continues back to the rear.

A turbo back exhaust is a FULL exhaust that connects to the O2 housing of the turbo and continues all the way to the rear.

The main sections usually consist of Down pipe (from O2 housing) to catback, or you can have a section for a cat or test pipe in the middle. then the catback portion.

Hope this helps.

Well there are tubular headers for the 4g63, but the stock is known as an exhaust manifold, then the turbo is mounted to the bottom of it. Then you have the O2 housing which is mounted to the exhaust side of the turbo.

So all of the exhaust goes through the turbo?

Or I should say..all of the exhaust goes through the piece mounted to the turbo (not the turbo itself)
