Evo Dillema Need Advice
(Cliff Notes At Bottom)
Hello Everyone, these forums have been my life for years LOL. My names Dustin and im 21 and live in Tucson.
I'm new to posting on these forums, but Ive had my Evo 8 for a couple of years now. Basically the car has been sitting in my car for about a year now after I spun a main bearing. I have the motor out of the car and apart at a buddies house just waiting for the funds to do a rebuild. Here is where I need the advice.
I am currently a full time student about to finish up my 2 year business transfer degree and an unemployed. Jobs are pretty hard to come by around where I live. Ive been in a bit of trouble throughout most of 09 and my dad wants me to just focus on school now too. I used to work a lot and my car is paid off that is why I haven't worried about the car sitting like that for so long, but I cant take seeing it every day in my garage.
I have a truck that I am currently driving to and from school. Its a 98 Dodge Dakota. I bought it from my dad while I was in High School and he had bought it new in 98. Engine / Drive train all in great working order, only minor problems.
Here is where I need the advice. I was considering selling my truck to get my motor rebuilt. I am a little hesitant because I would no longer have a back up vehicle and the truck just so happened to come in great handy when I spun the bearing. But on the other end my buddy Evan said the built motor would be very reliable. The reason I spun the bearing was over boost when the hose came off of the turbo that went to the MBC. (I know Im dumb... didnt clamp it hard enough) It would be tuned very conservatively for the time being as well.
So.... What should I do??? Sell the truck and fix the Evo.... Or just keep the truck and let the Evo sit.
Cliff Notes:
Spun Bearing In Evo... been sitting for a year and I want it fixed but i have no job and am going to school full time. Dad wants me to focus on that only and not work a lot. Have a truck i could sell to fix the Evo but I dont want the car to break down again and be SOL. But I also want to fix the Evo so bad. So keep truck or Sell it to fix Evo?
Thanks
