Evo problems
Evo problems
Right now I have a honda prelude and I want to go turbo but the H22 engine isn't made for turbo so I figure get a car that comes turbo'd. Does the Evo have any known problems, big or small? I was looking into getting a Z but a lotof people have had to replace the tranny and I don't wanna spend 30k and replace the tranny 5k miles after I get it.
Hmm.... other cars are having problems? NAA!! Can't be!!! Only the Evo has problems!
Heh... just goes to show that the Evo isn't the only one that has people complaining about very random problems.

Replacing the tranny on the Evo? I can't say I've read more than possibly 1 user about it, and it wasn't gone, just felt that he needed to have it rebuilt. Clutches are going to wear a lot quicker on this car, due to the AWD. There's an ongoing debate wether it is the clutch or the driver. Still, 90-95% of the users are NOT having clutch problems.
Its not the clutch...but it is the clutch...
I've driven my Evo rough and I've driven it smooth...the problems only really show up when you are racing beyond the clutch's very limited range. Occasionally it also trembles a bit too much going into first or reverse, but thats usually when the car is cold and Mitsu warned people about that out the door with that cheesy video...lol...
So what does that mean..? Its means the clutch is more of a daily driver type. Most likely this was either done by Mitsu to make the car easier to operate under the assumption that no one would race the car. Or it could be a way to stir up a market for Ralliart parts... its anybody's guess...
As long as you treat the stock clutch nice going into first and second you'll never have a problem.
