Is this 06 Evo MR w/67kmiles worth $18k?
Hey, what's up
First post so B-EZ. I'm the guy that wants the EVO as far as the Honda there are only 4,500 miles/ nothing wrong with it other than its slow. The original price was $26,000 (Minus 4,500 cash for clunkers, the only reason why I bought it instead of an EVO in the first place and a grand down) so not to worried about being upside down on it. Of course I'm going to go see it/drive it. The main concerns were reliably/Maintenance after this many miles? Is there anything other than 60K service such as common drive train issues to look for?
I got and email back saying:
I had new tires, brake pads and rotors on the back put on about a month ago and a new clutch about 6 months ago. The small defects and higher miles are the reason why i'm selling it so cheap. (still waiting on the 60K service)

Sell your car first, then start looking.. I have a feeling its going to take you a few months to sell your car to get what you want.. If youre willing to take a big hit then you'll get rid of it fast.
Cheers!
Cheers!
99.99% of all evos have ben moded at one time or another so if you plan on doing so then look for someone selling one thats fully done up motor, tranny, and you will most likely to get one with all the mods for the same price range your in.
I don't think there's anything fishy. Maybe the dude still drives it and doesn't want to bother with taking new pics every thousand miles. And don't let a simple timing belt service be the deciding factor... You can do it yourself for a couple hundred. If your friend can't change the timing belts, he probably shouldn't own an evo because they're service hungry little buggers if you maintain them right and costs a small fortune if you have to have the maintenance done for you.. Not to mention I could teach a monkey how to change timing belts on these things.
Back to the point, I found some sweet deals on cars by taking a chance and driving to look at one. Who knows, the car might be in great shape and he might take a grand less. Ya just never know unless you do some leg work.

i'd go look at it. the miles wouldn't scare me. i'm going to hit 150,000 miles on my 06 IX MR tonight and i'm not panicking. it's my everyday, and number 1 car. the price on that one doesn't seem bad. mine with the 150k miles still books out at around 20k, so 18k for those miles isn't bad. i'd try to talk him down of course, but i'd at least check the car out.
That same car was up for sale when I was looking for an EVO back in OCT/NOV. Honestly it is a good price for an 06 but I'd wonder why its been for sale for so long? The mileage I wouldn't worry about but just like any car I'd be curious if it was maintained properly.
Really, you'll need to go take a look at it in person.
Check the oil for any smell of gasoline. Check the coolant for any oil. Check the engine bay for any signs of heat stress, and check the condition of all the hoses and what not. Look under the car and in the engine bay for any fluid leaks, and you'll then want to take it for a drive and watch out for smoke and note its color if there is any.
It likely needs it's 60K service, and your friend will definitely be paying more money in maintenance than he was with the Accord. It's not a deal breaker, but expectations should probably be adjusted accordingly.
I'd be nervous of taking this on as my DD unless:
1) I could verify there was a shop nearby that could fully service the vehicle in the event of a real problem.
2) I could also afford such a problem.
