Hey, I hope to be picking up my EVO this weekend, and have some questions:
Is there any way to solve the boost taper from 19 to 16 besides porting the turbo.
What is everyones favorite exhaust? What is the loudest/nicest/best flowing?
If I were to get an MBC what is the highest I could set it at on the stock turbo?

nw to answear your ? :
1) no need to port the turbo, all you need is a boost controller to hold the boost all the way to redline.
2) exahust is a personal prefference and it is really up to you. some good companys that people seems happy with so far are:
Vishnu, HKS, JIC (although some had problems with it), BR, AMS, Perrin, RMR and Ultimate Racing. for pics of all of the exahusts that are out there , check out this thread:

3) i think you should be fine with 20-21 psi but just to be on the safe side, i would talk to some of the great tuners we have on this board and see what they think.

I also have a Perrin oil catch can from my WRX as you can see there, It came with the red hoses and 2 little black connector type things. Can I use that on the EVO or will I need additional parts?
I also have a Walbro Fuel Pump 255 LPH, will this work too?
I was looking at the Buschar and APS exhaust. I know a lot about the cat backs already but do not know of companies that make just a catless downpipe.

The catchcan and the fuel pump will both work on the evo. Nice wrx, by the way.
Buscher is by far the loudest, but I think the B&B turboback has the nicest sound and one of the quietest. The Perrin is also very nice sounding and constructed beautifuly. Buscher has the best flowing exhaust also, as far as I know.
I use 94 octane pump gas and keep my HKS EVC 5 at 20-21. It's all about the octane.

Besides a MBC or an EBC, you could have your ECU reflashed by Alfried with Dynoflash, works, or a few other tuners. Shiv's XEDE or AMS EMS can also be programmed and configured to boost control.

I think I will either go Buschar, APS for exhaust.
Ill install my oil catch can the day I get the car. Then would like to get :
Exhaust.
Gauges.
MBC.
Wheels/Coilovers.
ECU reflash.
AFC.
Etc, etc.
