I want to make 500hp+ on E85

So my plan is to make 500HP or more on E-85. My original plan was to get equal length headers, Maperformance open dump, PTE 1000cc injectors, and FP red on 28psi with E85. My current mods are Stock block, Full intercooler piping, ETS FMI, HKS 272's, Walbro 255 and of coarse a CamTuned here in Albuquerque, making 362hp/369tq.
My concern with the setup is ill be happy with it for a short amount of time but then later want to go bigger turbo. Im not really familiar with all these other turbo setups out there that my stock motor can handle. I didnt want to spend no more then $3k to $3,500. Is the FP red gonna satisfy me with 500Hp on E-85?

500 on our local dyno isnt really alot. like 420 uncorrected...maybe. you will need more than 1000cc injectors on e85 and 28psi with the red for sure!!!

and you will probably be happy with it. if you are worried about wanting more go with the black instead. which is 700+hp and a 9sec capable turbo

I'll put it to you this way, I talked with 3 people for a few hours this past weekend who are all on FP Red's, all 500-550hp, and all on E85.

1. Red will get you there, and really anything much bigger will be putting out too much for the stock block. If you have plans to build it up in the future, then go bigger, if you want to stay on a stock shortblock, Red on E85 will take you to the limit.

2. All 3 said that 400hp (Red on 93) is the sweetspot for the Evo. They said that they weren't breaking parts, it's fast, and fun, without getting really expensive.

3. E85 is going to mandate more fuel at 500hp than a single Walbro can deliver, plan to put in a double pumper setup of some sort.

4. E85 allows you to run massive ammounts of timing, so torque will shoot up really high. 400-450ft/lbs is flirting with breaking the stock shortblock, and a Red on E85 can easily get to this level (pump gas doesn't have this issue, not enough timing).

5. One of them was an instructor for Driver's Edge, so he tracks his car very regularly. He said that on street tires on a track 500hp simply overwhelms the car. He said that it's nothing for him to drift the entire carrisol at Cresson Motorsport Ranch, and to hit 167mph on the front straight of Texas World Speedway. He said that he actually turns down the boost at the track so he runs safer.

Personally I'm thinking the same thing, but I want a stroker too...so my choices are a little more complicated.

Anhow, the Red can take you to the limit of the shortblock...so unless you are going to get a forged bottom end your quest for a larger turbo should stop, the Red will give you everything you need.

I would love to stroke the motor out but really not my intensions right now with only 53K miles on the motor. I've read FP Red dyno threads and posts and people seem to really be happy with the spool and amount of power this turbo has all the way through to redline.

FP Red or Black. I prefer the Black, simply because i can run 420wtq and make a peak of over 500whp. I don't suggest you push the stock bottom end over the 400-420wtq mark. Regardless, make sure your tune is spot on perfect, as a bad tune can grenade your motor at 250wtq, much less 400wtq.

For E85, you can run significantly more ignition timing safely, thus producing more torque. You should have zero issues getting to 500whp on the Red and deff not on the Black with E85 and the proper setup.

Your going to need more fuel. My setup is a ams 30r with a double pumper and 1200cc injectors. Its really who tunes your car though thats going to make the stock block last. Im at a little over 500 hp and im more than satisfied. Just put it this way iv never lost a race on the road lol. I also love the torque my turbo puts out and it spools at like 3k . Let me tell you my setup hits hard lol. Im sure the red will give you simular results.

I was considering doing a double pumper along with everything else but i figure i can do with a single fuel pump for now and then later add that on.

I agree 100% with the above! Good post. I have had a Red for over a year now and love it with a passion. You can't go wrong, but honestly look into the Black. It is the same price and on stock block can get you to 500hp on less boost, have less tq(means safer), spools later but only 200rpms (safer aswell, doesn't load up so low in rpms like the Red), and will have lower cylinder pressure because you don't need to run crazy amounts of timing to get the power you want. BOTTOM LINE: FP Black is safer on the stock block than a Red!!!

500hp on the stock block is fairly safe. Just keep the tq around 425-440 max. ON a Black you could get 550hp/425tq on E85 and that should keep your block intack.

Main things to watch on stock block are:
1) Keep tq as low as possible (tuners know how, timing in low rpms, mivec changes, rpm base boost, etc)
2) Lower the boost the better
3) Lower the timing the better (keeps cylinder pressure lower)
4) Don't rev the stock block at these levels over 7-7.5k if you want it to stay together.

Here is my dyno graph of my stock block FP Red 30psi E85. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...red-535hp.html

Good luck, you can get 500hp fairly easy. Like stated above you will need a double pumper and a min of 1000cc for 500hp on E85. I would go ahead and get the FIC 1450s though.

I read something about the red vs black, but can't seem to find the thread. But basically the thread stated that the red spools quicker, obviously, but pulls all the way from ~2,800 to 7,500 rpm. The Black spools 300 to 400 rpm higher then the red and power last to only about 7,000 rpm before nose diving. Making the red better for non stroked motors and the black would work better for stroked motors due to having to shift at 7k rpm's. I'm just afraid I'm gonna regret buying one and not the other.

I agree, the FP Black is a safer turbo for the stock bottom end for sure. Just keep peak torque at or below 420wtq and keep timing and fuel conservative.

Not true at all. The FP Black will make power all the way to 7500rpm, but there are more factors at hand in a setup. A lot of things will limit any setup and could keep any turbo from making power at upper RPMs.

The FP Black will make more peak power than the FP Red Period. My FP Black makes power all the way to 8,000 rpm with ease. But again, i have a good combination of parts and that help facilitate this. The higher i rev, the higher my peak power number goes. Of course, there will be a limit, but i have not seen it yet and will not see it, as i won't run more than 8,000 rpms.

That is a false statement. The Black only spools 200rpms later than the Red. Also the black will have a much better topend than the Red. They black doesn't fall off uptop. If you port and put a external dump on the Black it will pull above 8k without a problem. A Red can't do that. The reason the red is better for non stroked motors is because a stroked motor flows 20% more airflow than a 2.0 and a Red's compressor wheel can't flow that amount of air above 6k. It would fall on its face, and hard. However the black larger compressor wheel makes it ideal for a stroker motor but still great on a 2.0. I believe 9sec9 ran the Black on a 2.0 to 9k and it pull practicly to redline...
