It's good to have one, especially if you're going to tune the car, yourself. Before buying any parts, you need to get a Tactrix cable and EvoScan and log your car. Do you have an Evo-specific shop in your area?

If you get one make sure it has the capability to output a 5v signal to log what its reading.

not sure about if i will tune my car by myself as I am new to the game.

but i will definitely get a aem wideband gauge! any suggestions on upgrading minor stuff to achieve more power?

That's smart. Contact Boosted Tuning here on the forum, you're not comfortable going local. Jay is very good and the price is reasonable.

Please take the car to an Evo-specific shop and have it checked out. IIRC, there are folks in your area who can help you out.

get the car tuned, you don't know the history of what was on the car and you don't know when he got his last tune, better safe then sorry

What kind of air intake does it have? is the bov venting? I would check those things first. also
check for boost leaks
