Boost question for a friend

Hi all! A friend of mine just picked up an 05 Evo from a dealer. Mods that I have seen are a hard UICP, blitz BOV, boost gauge, HKS Hi-Power exhaust, Hard intake pipe and open filter, and a FORGE MBC. It also possibly has a DP but I haven't had a chance to lift it up and really check.

The problem we noticed: When driving(in any gear) the boost spikes off the bat to almost 20 psi but then drops right away to 11-12 psi. This doesn't seem right to me and was wondering if others had experienced this? Since stock is supposed to be like 19 and only drop to 14 at redline. It doesn't hold the 20psi long at all, almost seems like it drops instantly to the 11 or 12.

Thanks for any and all info! Hopefully I'll be able to get myself an Evo within the next couple months!

Stock is closer to spiking 20 and tapering down to 17 or so. 11-12 is stock wastegate pressure I think. try swapping the boost controller for something else, do a boost leak test.

Also make sure that the lines coming from the boost controller are going to the right places. Sometimes when they are reversed you will get odd things like this.
