Would really appreciate your advice guys about the AMS 2.3 RR shortblock..


Does anyone have experience with it?

What do you like about it?

Anyone had issues with it? engine life? restrictions etc?

What would be the most comparable option to that, to get a 2.3 and high rev (8.5-8.7) ??

My buddies race Evo has it and I've driven the car with an AMS HTA37R. Its a hell of an engine! I was able to rev it out to 8500 with a conservative tune (560 AWHP...) and it had full boost by 3800-4000 rpms. Its a hell of an engine but I believe his has some oil consumption issues, but I believe those have been fixed.

 

Buy a 4G64 block, 94mm crank, do some machine work, use 162mm rods, and BAM! Same motor, half the price.

 

I don't have the RR version, I have standard 2.3 and 8500rpm is not a problem with it.

I heard the the 4g64 blocks dont really last long compared to the 4g63 mainly due to cooling issues......do you guys know of anything to prove or disprove that?

On another front, what do you guys think of Magnus 2.3 and 2.4Long rog blocks? any experience there?
