Does anyone have a 2.3 RR ?
For what its worth I ended up going with a BR 2.3 with a custom compression ratio and it cost less then half of what the AMS block cost and it'll still spin to 8500 if you really want.
I know of one that failed.... I personally never owned one. The 4g is such a common engine I would never pay what they are asking for it. I understand they use quality stuff but most of it is the AMS name tag you are paying for.
you can get a LR2.4 to be honest with you and get results you are aiming for. I know of one person on here that has one in fact i take that back i know two people. One guy i never talked to another guy owns the bby cbrd voltex evo forgot his name but you can ask him but john bradley ER should chime in and im sure its easier and cheaper to get a LR2.4 anyday of the week.

I think the 2.3RR and the LR2.4 are almost the same in what they will accomplish. They are not the same motor to be sure, the 2.4 is 80cc larger but seems to be able to rev the same and continue to make peak power. Here is my dynograph-

I will go find the AMS 2.3RR dyno graph and post it underneath.

Not sure were the money goes in that engine....I guess your getting piece of mind from having it built by one of the best companies out there. But i don't think i would be looking at that motor any time soon.
If i was going all out i'd be looking at a Magnus motor.....or BR with some extras

THe machine work and that crank is what is going to run you a lot for that money. You have to remember when that much machining is going on there is a premium to pay. Is it worth 8k? well that is rather a lot.
most places the 4g motor is 5-600 short block or 300 with no crank. Add in the machine work. around 2500 at a good shop with oil squirters cleaning and assembly included. the crank for 1g = 3800. Piston and rod probably 16-1700. you're already at 5500 without the mainstuds, headgasket, oilpump, waterpump, and balance shaft. I'm guessing at 8k they are making no more than 500 - 800 in profit per engne. Which is still a lot. but who knows i may be completely off.
either way. Now the crate motor is where it doesn't make sense. from 8k it goes to 15k. 15k!
us bargain hunters will get an old block, machine it, get rods/pistons bearings etc and use the 9 head and get a gasket. bam! probably 5k done not 8. and not no 15k. with 15k you can get a transmission clutch and turbo kit. full customization
for 15k
pardon the finance rant.

built std2.4(cleaned wesico, ibeam acl brearings arp main studs 100mm crank assembled)
ams custom 2.4 headgasket
Arp undercut headstuds

fluidampr
SBR 2.4 timing belt
SBR waterpump adaptor plate
waterpump
Oil pump with gears(frontcase)
Balance shaft eliminator kit
for less then 4700 all parts are brand new NO CORE

but that takes time searching and looking for deals my friend
Shark has a std 2.3, not the 2.3RR.
OP, I agree with everyone else. The 2.3RR is not worth the money. You can get a LR2.4 for less and it will perform just aswell. I love my LR2.4 more than anything.
JohnBradley (Aaron) from ER can hook you up with a LR2.4. He has built quite a few and the list is still growing! Signup!!!
