Now before i start let me say this doesn't happen all the time just a few times. Am i the only person who messes up when changing from 2nd to 3rd, and when i miss i look around hoping no one saw it.

 

I don't mess up the shifting, but there is a definate grinding/notchiness when I go from second to third. It drives me crazy. I've heard a short shifter may help, but I'm not there yet. Btw I'm at 1,800 miles

 

Take it easy and you'll avoid grinding gears.

For the X, you can just pop it out of gear from 2nd, let the stick settle to the middle, then push up to 3rd. Works like a charm. I've had people sit in the passenger seat for a few miles before they ask, "Hey, is this car stick shift?" It's smooth as butta!

 

For me it depends where the clutch pedal is sometimes ill get that perfect smooth shift other times it has to pop in.

 

Another evo x owner in the area hopped in mine and immediately noticed how much more fun the short shifter with heavy knob makes the car compared to the stock set up. It is night and day.
