Clutch

Just wondering, but I think it is time for me to change my clutch. I just want to know how to tell when it's due for a new one?

slipping, chattering, hard shifting, grinding gears, noises

you'll know, you'll either hear it or feel it.

Go get that replaced. If its slippin its time man. How many miles you got on that clutch. It could be oil getting on the clutch through the seal make sure you check for that. I had a car feel like the clutch was going and the tranny was leaking oil onto the clutch. Just keep your eyes open.

Well, i need to change my clutch real soon.. Its really badd already.. RPM doesnt even pull up 3500. RPM then goes up but doesnt want to go up 45mph... I got it checked and said its my clutch.. Whats the nice brand out for the Lancer besides RRM? Any Japanese brand out? OR does ACT have one for lancers?

i had 24,000 miles and my clutch chattered and slipped really bad. no grinding but when i replaced it, the pad wasn't worn out but the springs in the center of the disk were very loose. I replaced it with the road race kit and it was a lot better. the pedal is heavier but you'll get used to it and when it's broken i was able to chirp into 3rd gear.

1.8l 4g93 Mirage/Lancer pressure plates and clutches fit, but you will need a 4g94 TO bearing.

so all pressure plates fit? I'm asking because on sites there are different types of pressure plates for ACT Clutches. There is stock plates, 4 puck, 6 puck, and street. Does it matter which pressure plate? I'm thinkin of street, but I just wanted to ask first before I buy.

Also heavy duty vs. Xtreme ACT clutch? I'm thinking of Heavy Duty, but i'm mostly N/A so Xtreme would be too extreme eh?

Yes, it matters. I don't think they're universal. Get a pressure plate for a 1.8L Mirage.

yup, mitsu likes to call it the release bearing, tob is the same thing.

a release fork however is different, but dont worry, our cars have that built in with the bearing.

Hello all, I need inputs on my issue, i have 119K miles on my stock Clutch assembly and it decided to go out on me last night, i am getting a horrible gear oil smell when i come to a stop! is this normal for a clutch when it goes out? or is my input shaft bearing going bad and allowing oil through the bearing and onto the clutch disk?
