Need tire size reccomendations for Road Race

Looking to find a tire size that should give me enough contact to hold about 700-750 awhp. I think I want to go with a 18" tire. How wide should I go? I am replacing the fenders so rubbing shouldnt be a problem. What are you guys running? Thinking about 10-10.5" wide. Thanks!

depends on your set up, what type of track, and how much wider your fenders are (wide body or just fenders?). If you going for that much power I would assume track only. for an evo 9 you could run 18x10 (or 10.5 but not needed) with a 285 slick and be golden for the track.

however, if its solely track, maybe 17s would be better to save weight, depending on what tires you are trying to run and options available. gl with your build

awesome, thanks! Its going to be 99.9% track time. Although it will be fun to take it on the road every now and then for things like Bullrun, so I might change out the slicks for something like ultra high performance. I think the 18x10 is what I am going to go with, its what I have been leaning towards. Would I have to roll my stock fenders for that tire?

also what wheel setups are you guys using for the track? Obviously want the lightest / strongest wheels possible. Thanks!

if your going with wide fenders you should be fine depending on spring rates and ride height. if your thinking stock, just think lots of pulling, flaring, and cutting.

18x10s would be great for a track set up if you get a light wheel. i only have one set of wheels but wanted something would would work on the street, but be great for the track (about 50/50 split up until recently) and i just stuffed 265 direzza Z1s on 17x9.5 rpf1s. weight about 16lbs without tires. i like the combo.

post pics when you decide on a wheel tire combo!

cool. I will probably go with some SSRs. They are light, ive had good experiences with them and thats what I got as the summer setup on the X. Type C or F in 18 x 10 but in gunmetal or black so I dont have to clean them as often

That is a frightful amount of power for road racing, and if that's what you really are going to have at your disposal on a road course, 285/30/18 R-Comps on a 18x9.5 or 10" wheel are going to be the minimum. Whatever wheels fit and are light, but its the tires, suspension and suspension tuning that are going to help you make the most if it.

yeah its def alot of power but ill probably keep it somewhere around 500-600ish unless and will retune at the track depending on the circumstances and track layout. I just want to make sure I have enough tire if I need it.

I think SSR 18x10 or 10.5 is the way to go.
