A coffee filter, filters dust and dirt better than the HKS filter. Foam filters are made to breath not filter. The best material would be a paper element like an Apexi filter. They offer high flow, and great debris protection.

Again with any intake, you will be running a little lean, thats where you power will come from. In some cases (like the HKS that Al has verified) are running VERY lean from 3500-5000rpm.

Does that Kansai box fit over the RMR intake? I have the RMR intake and intake pipe, but that Kansai box would be icing on the cake...

Check ours out. $80, open element, funnel ram style with chrome ends. The filter has given us 6 hp on the dyno on STOCK EVO's. We have also run 11.65 at 117.88 mph with it on the stock turbo.

I have noticed stock is great with just a K&N Drop In! I dyoned a car with AEM, it sounded sweet! The reciruclation with the Type S Bov made it sound really good.

So because it gets leaner thats where the power comes from? Before i was hearing that everyone felt that intakes were making their car slower????

hmmm.... the two fastest cars on this forum, Buschur's and Big Al's are both running the Buschur pipe... Might tell you something. 4-BNGR mentioned that it's the cheapest, don't know if you meant that in a good way or bad, prolly good since you have Buschur products but hell that's just a plus for me. I also run their filter. Benefit of their intake pipe is that it does away with the oil blow back return on the stock pipe that goes from the valve cover to the stock pipe, which basically just sucks oil into your tubo housing and eventually into your intercooler, the deletion of this return allows you to run a little air breather off of the valve cover like Bushur does or a simple homemade oil catch system like mine.

From what I understand, if you plan on doing the Dynoflash mod, the HKS is the best one to get to go with that because Al at Dynoflash has more experience with tuning those intakes.

I am not speaking for Al here, but that is the impression that I get.

I've read that he has figured out how to get around the problems that the HKS can cause, but I was just pointing out that on his new mod list he posted yesterday, I think, he lists having the Buschur intake pipe and a K&N conial filter, probably just hooked straight up to the Buschur pipe since he has deleted the maf sensor so maybe this just suited his needs better.

Where are you seeing his mod list at? I just sent my ECU to him yesterday and when I asked him which intake would be best, he seemed to lean toward the HKS. However, again, I do not want to put words in his mouth--that is just the impression I got.

K&N called me, it came out Friday after months of dyno testing. Carbon fiber heat shield but no box. It seems the intake pipe design was critical for hp gains.
