USDM vs. JDM exhaust fitment

I am looking at buy an exhaust but have a stock evo IX bumper. Will an exhaust that has been modified to fit a JDM bumper still fit my car? what will be the outcome?

Depending on how it was modified it will most likely fit, the only thing is that the exhaust will not extend out past the bumper.... this can have 2 negative side effects. 1. your bumper will get dirty faster since more exhaust fumes are being blown on the bumper, 2. you run the chance of burning your paint or melting your bumper from the heat that is being blown out the exhaust.

It will fit but the muffler will not sit flush to your bumper because the modify one is a little bit shorter.

This is the main and most important thing to be concerned with.

If you're running a US rear bumper I would not recommend running an exhaust that is made for the JDM rear bumper.

Hense, why I am waiting for my JDM bumper before I get a TBE.

To anyone that may be interested, the JIC CT9AD2-Ti does not fit with the JDM bumper without excessive trimming. I had mine installed yesterday and was not to pleased when we had to remove material of the bumper.

I am running the JDM Espelir exhaust on a USDM bumper, it sits about 2 inches short from being flush with the bumper. My rear bumper is always black and i have now begun to have some paint flaking by the exhaust tip. If you are to run a JDM exhaust with a USDM rear i would highly recommend an exhaust shield but make sure again it is one that will not melt.

you might also what to hit up the gym and get your shoulders nice and huge because your are going to be doing a lot of claybaring and waxing to keep that bumper clean

I'm running a Monster Sport cat-back on mine with the US bumper. Yes, it was too short. I extended the TP by a couple of inches to correct for it, but not the exhaust doesn't fit in to the rear hanger in the wheel well. This causes excessive lateral movement and sometimes issues with the exhaust rubbing the driveshaft.

So, you can make it fit, but be sure to consider everything that comes with extending the exhaust.

We have an exhaust system that fits the JDM rear.
