I've the Blow 490 and I love the way it feels. Shifting is so much smoother. Almost any metal shift knob is going to get hot during the day buy the sun get yourself a golf club cover or something to cover it on hot days to keep it cool.

I have the Blox 490 LE as well and I love it. Shifting is a lot smoother and it goes into every gear like butter. It does get hot but thats why I wear racing gloves. You won't regret this knob! I got mine from Speed Element, they will take car of you.

I love the metals, but have terrible memories of burning the shift pattern into the palm of my hand all during summer. YAY!

Do you guys use your shift knobs as hand rests? It takes less than a second to shift, almost not enough time to feel the knob.

It still takes less than a second to shift.

Cool Thank you all!

Okay, firstly thanks to all for your inputs on the poll!

The 1st option won, and that's what I purchased! (off of a member on evom actually).

Here's my new shift knob! Sorry about the crappy pictures, had only a point & shoot handy!

sometimes, yes. more importantly if i am accelerating or decelerating rapidly i don't bother to take my hand on and off the shifter a dozen times when i can more easily just hold onto it. it's a manual trans not a hurst slap shifter.

This, def. And even IF I was only grabbing it for a second.. no one likes grabbing a caddle prod for any amount of time.

You may be lucky and not live in a desert, but over here in Vegas when your car gets over 140 degrees with the windows up, it's worth looking for another shift knob..

Just wanted to give an update, and put it down here for future newbies.

I changed my shifter base bushings & the underhood shifter bushings to Buschur Racing bushings. Got both of them for $68 shipped.

Since my car is pretty new, 2005 with around 45,000 miles on it, & quite babied - no track days, no auto-X, the previous owner was a girl who drove it very softly and took good care of it; the stock bushings were is very good shape. The rubber wasn't hard or brittle yet, and no signs of corrosion on the metal inserts.

I did the change in 2 steps - base bushings first, followed by underhood bushings. The base bushings change made zero difference to the shifting. I did the underhoods today, & these made a big impact. The shifts feel crisper. I'm heel-toeing into 2nd much much better. No misshifts.

If you have an evo with stock underhood bushings, I recommend this very simple mod. Cost of mod = $30 + 30-45 minutes. Result = Very Happy Shifting.

Cheers.
