New to the Evo but not to mitsubishi

Hey,

Just bought my 05 EVO VIII with SSL package, really low miles (35.5k when I bought it) and completely stock. The car is in pristine condition and was only a one owner which is awesome. I love this car since I jumped in to test drive it. I did whatever I could to make sure I was leaving with this car. I'm not new to tuning as I have owned a 97 GST and a 04 GTI. So far this has been the best car I have owned but I do expect "things" to happen. I am currently stumped though, I live 30 min. north of VA Beach and I can't seem to find a tuning shop round here. Would anyone know where I could find a reputable tuning shop I can take my car to when I get some mods put on, but not any joe shmo shop as this car is my baby. BTW, wonder why VA isn't in any of the local area threads Thanks in advance.

All that effort into taking pictures and I can't transfer them to my comp. Wife has the cord I need hidden some where and she's at work, crappy luck on that one. haha. I'll have some up soon though. Btw there are a few evo guys here in this area and I'm sure there are more rummaging through the forums, maybe we can have our area added and set stuff up? Just some food for thought

Real nice looking man. I love the black, what mods does it have. Besides the obvious intercooler, headlights and maybe springs?

a good set up it sounds like. now maybe just an intake to complement the intercooler a good tune and a boost controller to try and stabilize your boost through out your rpms. I was reading through some of the forums and I seen that you have the base mods, but just missing the intake and the tune. You should produce some good HP with those though!

From what I understand, when you get your ECU tuned, the tuner is going in and adjusting stuff like your A/F ratio, timing and stuff like that. The boost controller is there for you to use and try to keep your boost stabilized. The tuner might set your boost through your ecu though, not 100% sure. You can ask around about that or try and look it up

You wont tell your tuner what PSI to run. You can but he will tune the car with what PSI the car can handle before it knocks. My tuner set up my two step, changed my redline, removed the speed limiter, raised the boost up to 23 on STOCK injectors, in which we successfully maxed out with zero knock.
Just be sure to tell your tuner what you expect out of the car, like what your goals are, and what you plan on doing with the car. Time trials, drag, etc.....
Also to, after the tune, dont go out and buy a part such as a boost controller and start changing the boost settings, you wil ruin your tune. What you need to do, is install all your parts, including a boost controller, three port i recommend. Then hit up the tuner, get tuned, and be done until you get another batch of mods, in which you will retune again. Cost money, but be smart on your parts, and what you do to the car.

Lol, well to me I'd rather ask what would seem to be a stupid question and get it answered (if you are completely unsure of what to do) than do an actual stupid thing and do something detrimental to the car which can costs lots of cash to fix. The other guy posted some good info though, check it out!
