Looking at buying an Evo9....Couple questions...
Can you guys tell me what kinds of problems these cars have? Just wanting to know this cars downfalls. What parts are junk and what will need to be replaced when adding power around the 400whp range.
Well Im coming from a 01 WS6 and I can list parts that are junk from the factory on F-Bodys. IE the rear end is crap. Absolute crap I have went through 2 of them. Im just trying to ask a simple question here but it seems you guys are to proud to admit the cars downfalls or something?? Every car has its downfalls Im just wanting to know what this cars is.
Not really, we just think you should research first, the questions you seek. We are not too proud I broke every part, and replaced it on an Evo8, so what do you want me to say. Evo 9 has a stronger transfer case then the 8's, but no mods, no expierence pre-loading an AWD car, you could toast the clutch pretty fast. (Not that it is a weak part, but could be). If you want an Evo9, get one after you research it. TOO MANY answers and scenarios for your loose question. In the proper hands, there is no weak parts, in my hands, they all are. LOL. Calm down, and research I guess is the answer.
honestly best thing to do if your goal is 400 contact an evo specialty shop tell them your interested in getting an evo and that you wanna make sure you know what your getting your self into. GL! and in my opinion never had any problem with my evo had it for 4yrs do downfalls imo

The only common weak parts in an evo are the transfer case and clutch, but even so, they can take a beating before giving out. However, there are shops out there who have addressed these problems already. For example, shep racing, and buschur racing offer deals in which they take your transfer case or transmission and strengthen its internals, thus, helping to eliminate the problem all together! Ultimately if your looking to buy an evo, you will have to take it easy at first, but i am confident you wont be disappointed!
