Are X's really imported from Japan?

Are X's really imported from Japan?
I had the dealer that I am looking to buy from telling me that the WW that I want is on its way from japan and it has to go through a 45-60 customs inspection.
I will not be back in the states until mid september, and coincidently the 45-60 day customs check would put the car arriving at the same time i do...
I am not sure if he is BS'n so he can lock me on to this sale (wants me to put 500 down) or if he is seriously trying to get me the deal/car i want.
if he says I can switch the 500 to a 2011 if they come out I will probably do it regardless.
So do these cars come from Japan?
