New guy
Hey, I joined couple weeks ago, but been looking for my first evo. I found one, but is not in the same state. If anyone can give me a tip on looking at evos, please help me. i have lots to learn. Thanks
Hey Zzang, I recognize you from the nasioc board. If you buy out of state the worst part about it is not being able to look at it, or paying to fly down.
If you find one at a dealer they can some reasonable prices and you can use the cost of the ticket to negotiate. That was one of the first things I got them to knock off the price of the car. I would not recommend buying one without looking at it.
If you want to ship it up instead of drive. Alaska Auto Transport will ship from Seattle to Anchorage for $1160 and about 10days. They will also pickup from places other than Seattle for an additional charge. They would have shipped a car from NY for an extra $700 to truck it to Seattle.
If you have any other questions shoot me a pm.
Also keep an eye on CL, here is for for sale right now with only 13K miles.....http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1838181847.html
hes asking way to much.....

That's going to be tough shopping from afar, but it can be done. Two things I would suggest for you to do, if you find one you are interested in.
1. Take a friend that knows evo's. Have them eyeball under the hood for aftermarket parts, ie:injectors, o2 housing, cheap aftermarket coils/wires
2. Have the same friend plug up their laptop to check the ecu and see if the oem maps are messed with, or still stock. They could have been put back to stock by the previous owner, but if they didn't put them back, you will be able to tell the stock maps have been messed with. This may give you some insight into what the previous owner did with/to the car. Good luck! You'll love it!
